Equine Sports Massage & Rehabilitation

Helping your horse reach their potential

HEY!

I'M LAUREN, FOUNDER OF LCD BODYWORK.

Hello, my name is Lauren Davis and live in Kent. I have been lucky enough to have been brought up surrounded by horses as my mum is a qualified riding instructor. At the moment I have three wonderful horses; Artie (ISH), Jerri (Welsh Sec C) and Quaver (ISH).

I found my passion in equine sports therapy and rehabilitation when I was completing some work experience at our local equine veterinary hospital, which pushed me to go on to complete a degree in Equine Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation.

During this degree I learnt a lot about different complimentary therapies available to horses, I also learnt how to swim, treadmill and use an equine spa. Whilst I was completing my degree I undertook another qualification to become an Equine Bodyworker which was run by Equinology.

This qualification has enabled me to set up my own business which has been running successfully for four years. I take every opportunity I can to expand my knowledge to be able to help any horse presented in front of me.

I have completed my equine Osteopathy qualifications with the aspirations to aim for FEI.

THE SERVICES

SPORT MASSAGE

What is it?

Equine sports massage is a form of massage therapy that focuses on equine athletes, aiming to optimise their performance and reduce the risk of injury. It involves the therapeutic application of hands-on deep tissue techniques to the voluntary muscle system of horses.

The goal is to increase circulation, relax muscles, enhance flexibility, and promote overall well-being. Equine sports massage can help improve range of motion, alleviate muscle tension, enhance recovery, and contribute to the horse's overall physical and mental relaxation.

It is commonly used in conjunction with veterinary care and training programs to support the health and performance of horses.

Equine Thermography

What is it?

Otherwise known as equine thermal imaging, is a non-invasive method of measuring heat emissions from the body. Using thermal imaging cameras on horses (or warm-blooded animals) allows for the discovery of abnormal thermal patterns, the identification of potential error sources and the assessment of training performance...

The Benefits:

  • Nerve damage

  • Bone injury

  • Undiagnosed lameness

  • Muscle damage

  • Soft-tissue damage

  • Tendon stress

SOFT TISSUE + JOINT MOBILISATION

What is it?

Equine soft tissue and joint mobilization is a hands-on therapeutic technique that focuses on manipulating muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints to improve their function and alleviate any restrictions or discomfort in the horse's body. It involves applying specific techniques, such as stretching, massage, and gentle joint movements, to increase flexibility, reduce muscle tension, promote circulation, and enhance overall range of motion. Equine soft tissue and joint mobilisation can help address issues like muscle imbalances, stiffness, joint stiffness, and restricted movement.

The Photizo vetcare unit

What is it?

Red and infrared light therapy works on a cellular level by
stimulating the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) in mitochondria cells. Energy levels within the cell are increased, and nutrients and macromolecules such as proteins and lipids are accepted and transported faster into the cells.

🐴Deep tissue bruising

🐴Abscesses

🐴Inflammation/ swelling

🐴Haematoma

🐴Skin conditions

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE

What is it?

Equine myofascial release is a therapeutic technique that focuses on releasing tension and restrictions in the fascia, a connective tissue that surrounds muscles, bones, and organs. It involves gentle and sustained pressure applied to specific areas of the horse's body to release tightness and restore balance. The goal is to improve range of motion, alleviate pain, and enhance overall well-being. Equine myofascial release can be used as a complementary therapy alongside other modalities to address issues such as muscle imbalances, stiffness, and restricted movement.

OSTEOPATHY

Osteopaths use soft tissue techniques to improve the function of the horse's body, releasing tension and restoring health through the assessment and treatment of muscles, joints, tendons and ligaments. This can help horses who are struggling with a sore back or tightness elsewhere in their body to find pain relief.

Osteopathy is a holistic approach which looks at the horse as a whole.

This includes initial assessment of your horses way of going and confirmation, extensive history obtained through a chat with owner on subjects covering activities participated, in previous injury, problems areas etc tack can be checked and seeing your horse move either inhand or under saddle if appropriate.

Equine Osteopathy is a drug free, manual therapy that aims to improve the mobility and function of the horse's skeleton, muscles, ligaments, joints and organs, – collectively known as the musculoskeletal system.

"Lauren responded quickly to my initial enquiry and we were soon booked in. Louie loved his sports massage, almost fell asleep! A second appointment/follow up was booked and Lauren was delighted with the improvements seen in Louie’s strength after following her exercise and stretches advice. 5 service, polite, professional and approachable. Recommend."

"I've had Lauren out to my mare a few times now, I find her to be very knowledgeable & caring. The difference in her following a treatment is very noticeable when riding & lunging. What I like best is I'm always given homework of stretches that I can continue in-between appointments to help aid her problem areas. I'm so pleased with how she is going, I have a regular reoccurring 8 week appointment. Its nice seeing my girlie so relaxed and sleepy during each session as she really switches off and is super relaxed. I would definitely recommend Lauren."

- Lee Reid, Facebook

"Really pleased with the service, Lauren was friendly, helpful and professional and very knowledgeable, Star loved her first massage, looking forward to seeing her improve. Given exercises to help work in the weaker areas, will be booking in again soon x"
